Announcement Regarding BCGEU and PEA Strikes

October 28, 2025

The Energy Resource Appeal Tribunal has been informed that the British Columbia General Employees Union (BCGEU) and Professional Employees Association (PEA) have both returned to work. The BCGEU are set to vote on a collective bargaining agreement, and may return to striking if this agreement is not ratified by its members. Negotiations for a collective agreement are ongoing with the PEA.

These developments mean that the staff of the Tribunal have returned to work. While there were no significant delays for appeals, there may be some in the future. The Tribunal shares registry staff with several other tribunals that were more heavily impacted by the strike. The Tribunal will prioritize appeals based on urgency but will endeavour to provide timely service on all appeals.

If there are any urgent matters associated with the appeal, please feel free to contact the Case Manager assigned to the appeal. If there is not yet a Case Manager assigned, please email the Tribunal at info@bcerat.ca if you have questions or concerns.
